TPACK AND SAMR MODELS

Hello everyone!
As we all know, technology is a part of our life. We use it in almost every field in life, education included. Today we will talk about two models that explains how and why we should integrate technology in education.

    TPACK (Technological Pedagogical  and Content Knowledge) Model

TPACK is a framework that points out the main domains of knowledge so that teachers can apply them into the teaching process effectively while also integrating technology in the classrooms. According to TPACK, there are three main domains of knowledge;

    1-Content Knowledge
    2-Pedagogical Knowledge
    3-Technological Knowledge

Content knowledge is teachers' knowledge of the actual language in terms of grammar, vocabulary, linguistics, etc. Pedagogical knowledge is teachers' knowledge of how to teach to students. Technological knowledge is teachers' knowledge on technology, technological tools, and how to use them effectively in classrooms. Teachers should have an idea about the TPACK model to keep up with the new technology integrated classrooms.

    SAMR Model

SAMR model is a model that explains how and why we should use technology to enhance learning. There are 4 levels in this model and each level lead to the other;

1-Substitution Level: Substitution of coursebooks.

2-Augmentation Level: Enriching the class and information beyond coursebooks.

3-Modification Level: Modifying the teaching process.

4-Redefining Level: Changing the ways of teaching and learning.
