MONDLY, BUSUU, MEMRISE, DUOLINGO
Hello again everyone!
With the Covid-19 pandemic, most of the people all around the world are in quarantine, including me. In Turkey, we are staying in our houses for almost 3 months. I want to recommend a great way to spend all this leisure time we have, in a quality way. Online language learning apps. They are available in Google Play Store and AppStore. You can use them when/where ever you want! Here are some specific applications!
MONDLY
Mondly offers 42 languages to learn which is impressive! Matching vocabulary, putting words in the right order to form correct sentences are some of the activity types Mondly offers. The learner can access daily lessons and see the progress they made using the statistics section.
There are also some features learners can only see with a membership.
BUSUU
Busuu has 12 languages available for you to choose from. When you first choose your language. If you have any pre-knowledge about the language, the learner can solve the test that Busuu provides to determine the learners' level or you can start as a beginner. The applications also forms a plan for you according to your choices by asking questions like 'How often you want to learn?'. Busuu also has a premium membership so you can use the application unmitigated.
MEMRISE
Memrise has 9 language options. The best thing about Memrise is the fact that the application focuses on vocabulary more than grammar. Learners can choose their level and start to practice. The application also has pronunciation activities, additionally, learner can record their pronunciation to listen and check afterward.
Like the others, Memrise also has a premium membership.
DUOLINGO
Duolingo is a very charming and colorful application, however, it is weaker than the other applications I reviewed above. This is because it focuses on translation while teaching the language, which as language teaching teachers will know, it's not the most efficient way of teaching. The software leads learners to memorize unfortunately.
